Bukayo Saka’s grandmother made a special journey from Oro in Kwara State, Nigeria, to attend Arsenal’s final home match of the season against Burnley, where she joined family members and supporters pitchside.
The emotional reunion came during a memorable occasion, with Kai Havertz having scored in the first half to give Arsenal the lead.
The moment resonated deeply with Nigerian fans, shining a spotlight on Saka’s strong Yoruba heritage his mother originates from the same community he personally visited back in 2023.
The heartwarming scene was not without some confusion, however, as a few people initially mistook his grandmother for a relative of French defender William Saliba before the mix-up was cleared up.
On the pitch, Saka has had an outstanding season, contributing 17 goals and 15 assists, as Arsenal push for their first Premier League title in 22 years.
The moment served as a proud reminder of his cultural roots and the deep connection he maintains with his Nigerian heritage even as he performs at the highest level of English football.
