The Integrity Group, ambassadors of the MORE Agenda and the You Matter Charity Foundation, have commended the administration of Sheriff Oborevwori for what they described as impactful leadership and remarkable achievements in the last three years.

The National Chairman and Convener of the Integrity Group, Dr. Oke Idawene, stated this during a media briefing to mark the governor’s third anniversary in office.

He said the Oborevwori administration had transformed governance in Delta State through massive infrastructural development, improved workers’ welfare, healthcare reforms and sustained peace across the state.

Idawene disclosed that no fewer than 3,500 kilometres of road projects had been completed under the administration, adding that the governor’s developmental strides were visible in all parts of the state.

He also praised the governor’s commitment to social welfare, particularly the widows’ welfare scheme, noting that many vulnerable residents had benefitted from the programme.

According to him, the administration has also given adequate attention to the health sector through the renovation and upgrade of healthcare centres across the state.

On education, Idawene commended the governor for prioritising funding for tertiary institutions, describing the three state-owned universities as among the best in the country with uninterrupted academic programmes.

He maintained that the governor’s performance had made him widely accepted by the people of the state.

“Judging by the governor’s performance, it will be political suicide for anyone to contest against him. In fact, any candidate seeking to challenge the governor would require psychological evaluation. You do not change a winning team,” he declared.

Speaking on the state of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, Idawene said the party remained united under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori.

He urged aggrieved members to remain patient and work collectively with the governor in the interest of the people of the state.

Other speakers at the briefing included Ufuoma Onovughakpo, Directorate of Information, Integrity Group; Mr. Lawson Efenudu, Director of Labour Matters, Integrity Group; Lady Nkechi Orah, National Welfare Officer, Integrity Group; and Comrade Bolum Martins, Chairman of the Integrity Group in Delta State.

The speakers jointly applauded the governor’s implementation of the MORE Agenda, especially in the areas of pension payments, gratuities and workers’ welfare.

According to them, the governor had released over N10 billion within the last three years to offset pension arrears, aside from an additional N1 billion approved for workers’ welfare.

They noted that industrial harmony in the state was a reflection of the administration’s commitment to workers’ wellbeing.

“When a governor is performing well, organised labour will have no reason to embark on unnecessary agitation. Less than one year after retirement, pensions and gratuities are processed and paid,” the group stated.

The group also commended the governor’s wife, Tobore Oborevwori, the Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, and the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly for working harmoniously with the governor to ensure accelerated development across the state.

They further described Delta State as one of the most peaceful states in the country, attributing the peaceful atmosphere to Governor Oborevwori’s inclusive style of governance and leadership approach.
