Eid 2026 LIVE: Muslims attend Eid al-Adha events in UK as Hajj pilgrimage continues

Muslims around the world, including the millions of Hajj pilgrims who travelled to Saudi Arabia this week, are celebrating Eid al-Adha today. The major Muslim festival takes place around two months after Eid al-Fitr, and starts on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic Calendar.
The second Eid of the year celebrates the story of the prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to obey Allah when he was asked to sacrifice his son. Eid al-Adha, which is being marked by events and gatherings held across the UK, including in Manchester and Birmingham, means ‘festival of sacrifice’.
