Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has urged residents of the state to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration period to pray for enduring peace, improved security and economic prosperity in Bauchi State and Nigeria.

Mohammed’s appeal was contained in a Sallah message issued on Wednesday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, while felicitating with the Muslim Ummah in Bauchi State, Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, is one of the most important festivals in Islam, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.

The festival symbolises faith, sacrifice, obedience, and devotion to God.

“In his Sallah message, Governor Bala Mohammed urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, love, tolerance, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS),” the statement read.

Mohammed noted that Eid-el-Kabir offers an opportunity for sober reflection, prayers and renewed dedication to peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

“The Governor noted that Eid-el-Kabir presents another opportunity for reflection, prayer, and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence, unity, and mutual understanding among Nigerians irrespective of religious, ethnic, or political differences,” the statement added.

The governor also called on residents of the state to continue supporting government programmes and policies designed to improve the welfare of citizens and drive sustainable development.

“Governor Bala Mohammed called on citizens of Bauchi State to continue supporting government policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people and advancing sustainable development across the state,” the statement said.

He further appealed to the people to use the festive season to seek divine intervention for peace, security and economic prosperity in the state and across the country.

“Residents should use the festive period to pray for enduring peace, security, and economic prosperity in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large,” Mohammed stated.

While congratulating Muslim faithful on witnessing this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, healthcare delivery, education and protection of lives and property.

He also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend support to the less privileged.

“Governor Bala Mohammed also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly, assist the less privileged, and extend love and kindness to one another in the true spirit of the season,” the statement noted.

The governor assured residents that his administration would continue to uphold democratic values by encouraging healthy political competition and sustaining tolerance across party lines.

“On behalf of my family, the Government and good people of Bauchi State, I wish the entire Muslim Ummah a peaceful, joyous, and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration. May Allah accept our sacrifices and bless our state and nation with peace, unity, and progress,” he said.
