Actress Etinosa Idemudia has spoken out against the growing trend of celebrities sharing unreplied direct messages after someone has passed away, describing the behaviour as hypocritical and driven by a desire for attention.
Speaking during a recent interview with BTC Podcast, the movie star warned her colleagues against sharing any of her private messages in the event of her death, arguing that many people who ignored others while they were alive suddenly become visibly emotional and expressive online once those same people are gone.
She was particularly pointed in her criticism of film producers and industry colleagues who allegedly refuse to collaborate with actors during their lifetime but later post heartfelt tributes claiming they had been looking forward to working with them.
Etinosa made clear that she finds such gestures deeply insincere and urged those around her not to engage in the same behaviour after she is gone, delivering her message with characteristic humour and bluntness.
Her comments come in the wake of widespread reactions following the death of actor Alexx Ekubo, during which a number of celebrities shared screenshots of their final conversations with him on social media, a practice that appears to have prompted her to speak out on the issue.
