Gov Zulum reaffirms commitment to security, resettlement in Borno

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to security and the resettlement of communities displaced by insurgency in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the governor assured residents that his administration would continue working with security agencies and volunteer groups to sustain peace across Borno.
Zulum, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage, urged Muslims to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, tolerance and compassion during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He said the festive period should also serve as a time to support vulnerable persons and promote peaceful coexistence among communities.
The governor pledged to intensify efforts toward the resettlement of displaced communities and the economic empowerment of vulnerable residents across the state.
“We will continue to work closely with the military and other security agencies, as well as volunteer forces, to ensure peace and tranquillity in our communities,” he said.
Zulum also assured residents that more displaced communities would be resettled before the end of his administration, while empowerment programmes for displaced and vulnerable persons would be sustained.
He further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing ongoing developmental projects across the state before the expiration of his tenure.
The governor also commended members of the All Progressives Congress for the peaceful conduct of the party’s primary elections in the state and called on Nigerians to continue praying for lasting peace in Borno and across the country.
