Recounting the incident, the man said the only conversation they had during the trip was when he asked the woman where she was headed.

“I picked this lady that was drenched in the rain going to China Town bus stop from Zik Avenue. The only thing I asked her was, ‘Nne, kedu ebe ina aga?’ meaning ‘Where are you going?’”

He explained that after arriving at the destination and expecting the passenger to leave the car, the woman demanded ₦5,000, accusing him of “using her.”

She told me if I didn’t pay her, she would shout and tell people I booked her as an ashawo and refused to pay,” he added.
