Italian police arrest two Nigerians over gang-rape of tourist

Italian police have arrested two Nigerians over the alleged abduction and gang rape of a Colombian tourist in Rome.
The suspects, identified as Isibor Wisdom, 29, and Paul Nwabueze, 39, were arrested alongside three others: Saidykhan Lamin, 29, and Karamba Kanteh, 38, both Gambians, as well as Harouna Traore, a 43-year-old Malian.
A Daily Express report on Thursday stated that the 32-year-old Colombian woman was allegedly lured away from a restaurant in Rome on May 19 by a man who offered to sell hashish, a cannabis product, to her.
After allegedly convincing her to follow him, the tourist was reportedly driven to an abandoned building on the eastern outskirts of the city, where she was held captive for three days.
She was allegedly raped repeatedly by the five suspects, who also drugged her and threatened to kill her.
“The victim reportedly escaped from the building before she was found half-naked on a pavement by a passerby, who alerted emergency responders,” the report stated.
Police later raided the property and arrested the five suspects, who were charged with gang rape aggravated by the victim’s vulnerable condition.
They remain in police custody.
Authorities said investigations were ongoing to apprehend other suspects believed to have participated in the incident, including the man who allegedly lured the woman away from the restaurant and the driver who transported her to the building.
