JAMB delays release of 2026 UTME result slips, gives reason
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has asked candidates of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to remain patient over the delay in accessing their original result slips.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Fabian Benjamin, the board’s spokesperson, JAMB said the printing system for the result slips is not yet active.
According to the board, the delay is linked to the recent completion of foreign-based examinations and preparations for a mop-up UTME for candidates who missed the main exam due to circumstances beyond their control.
JAMB explained that it is still finalising necessary processes before allowing candidates to print their official result documents.
It further noted that the UTME is not just a score-based test but a ranking examination, adding that the original result slip reflects candidates’ positions, which requires all assessments and adjustments to be fully concluded before release.
The statement assured candidates that once all required processes are completed, the printing portal will be opened and applicants will be notified accordingly.
JAMB also apologised for the delay and appealed for calm, stressing that the exercise is being handled carefully to ensure accuracy and fairness.
The development has sparked concern among candidates, many of whom depend on the result slips for admission screening, post-UTME registration, and school admission procedures.
However, the board maintained that candidates can still access their UTME scores through the SMS result-checking service linked to their registered phone numbers.
The delay comes shortly after JAMB fixed the minimum university admission cut-off mark at 150 for the 2026 academic year.
