‘Kidnapping, other violent crimes worrisome’ – Olubadan charges Nigerian Govt
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja has declared the rate of kidnapping and other violent crimes in the country as worrisome.
The traditional ruler made this declaration on Monday during the installation of some Mogajis (family heads) and Baales in the ancient city.
Our correspondent reports that no fewer than 14 Mogajis from different families and seven Baales from different villages were installed at the ceremony.
The event was held at Olubadan palace in Oke Aremo area of Ibadan.
It was attended by members of Olubadan-in-Council and other notable personalities both within and outside the ancient city.
Ladoja, who spoke through the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, described the prevalence of kidnapping and other social menaces in the country as worrisome and alarming.
The traditional ruler, in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Chief Solomon Ayoade, charged governments at all levels, other traditional rulers and other stakeholders to rise up to the occasion.
The Olubadan in the statement made available to DAILY POST Monday evening used the occasion to appeal to the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde, local government Chairmen to begin to embark on profiling of foreigners in the State.
He maintained that this will help to know who is entering and leaving the State at a particular period.
Ladoja said, “It is worrisome the alarming rate at which people are being kidnapped, terrorized, maimed and killed nowadays.”
