Lagos APC names Damilola Sonayon-James as deputy governorship candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has announced Damilola Sonayon-James as its deputy governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
The decision marks a key step in the party’s early preparations to retain control of the state, as it moves to consolidate its political structure ahead of the polls.
Sonayon-James will run alongside Obafemi Hamzat, the party’s governorship candidate who secured the ticket in a landslide primary victory.
The party’s choice has reportedly received strong backing from key stakeholders, including the Governor’s Advisory Council, outgoing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other regional party leaders.
Party officials are expected to formally unveil the Hamzat–Sonayon-James ticket in the coming days as part of a broader strategy to intensify grassroots mobilisation and strengthen support across Lagos State.
