Makinde signs new security order after Oyo school kidnapping
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has signed Executive Order No. 1 of 2026 aimed at regulating associations, groups and organisations offering security and allied services within the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement posted on the official page of Seyi Makinde.
According to the statement, the executive order was introduced to ensure that groups involved in security-related activities operate under clear rules approved by the state government.
Makinde stated that the move is aimed at promoting peace, public order and compliance with the rule of law across Oyo State.
The governor also addressed the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area, noting that security agencies are working to secure the release of the abducted children and teachers.
“Security agencies are working round the clock to ensure the safe return of the children and teachers kidnapped in Oriire LGA,” the statement read.
