NEDC lauds progress on Adamawa bridge, youth centre
The North East Development Commission, on Monday, commended the pace and quality of work on the ongoing Five-span bridge at Bole and the Youth Development Centre in Shagari Lelewalji, Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The commendation came during an inspection visit led by Musa Hyeladi on behalf of the Adamawa State Coordinator of the Commission, Barrister Khalifa M. Lawan, alongside technical and administrative staff who assessed the level of work done and compliance with specifications by the contractor, Traicta Construction Limited.
Speaking during the inspection at the Bole bridge site, Hyeladi expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, saying the project would transform transportation and economic activities in the area.
“We are overwhelmed with the level of work done on this 5-span bridge,” he said.
“When completed, this project will restore connectivity, improve transportation, boost economic activities, and enhance access to farms, markets, schools, and healthcare services for communities in this axis,” Hyeladi added.
Earlier, the Head of the Technical Team, Engineer Joseph Francis, briefed the delegation on the scope of work, level of completion, and expected impact of the projects on host communities.
The inspection team also visited the Youth Development Centre at Shagari Lelewalji, designed to provide vocational training, skills acquisition, and empowerment opportunities for youths across Adamawa State and the wider North-East region.
Speaking on the projects, the Project Manager of Traicta Construction Limited, Ghassan Ghanem, expressed appreciation to the Commission for its cooperation and support, assuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
“We appreciate the support and cooperation from the NEDC throughout the execution of this project,” he said.
“We assure the Commission of our commitment to delivering quality work within the stipulated timeframe,” he vowed.
Arewa PidomNigeria reports that the projects, which form part of the NEDC Master Plan initiative tagged: “Connecting Communities in the Region,” are aimed at improving infrastructure, boosting economic activities, and creating employment opportunities across the North-East.
