Nwoko Speaks Out on APC Primary Deal, Alleges Broken Political Promises

Senator Ned Nwoko has opened up about his experience during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, touching on issues of internal party agreements and the conduct of the election process in a television interview on Prime Time.

The senator revealed that a number of individuals who defected into the party had been given assurances of inclusion in the party’s leadership structure and government appointments by the then national chairman.

He stated that he and others were promised that discussions would be held on restructuring the party, including a power-sharing arrangement.

Specifically, he said they were told that the state executive would be dissolved and that nominations would be made to give members of the old APC a stake in the new government commitments he said were never honoured.

Nwoko also disclosed that before joining the APC, he had been personally promised an automatic ticket, which he said was a key factor in his decision to switch parties.

He expressed disappointment that he was later made to go through the standard competitive primary process, describing this as a clear departure from what he had been assured.

On the outcome of the primaries, the senator maintained that he had evidence of victory across a significant number of wards, stating that he won in 98 wards.

He dismissed the disputes raised against his performance, alleging that his opponent, Ifeanyi Okowa, only pointed to irregularities in a single ward while ignoring the broader results in his favour.
