A 53-year-old businessman, Adimike Godwin, has reportedly been killed following an alleged altercation with his son, a member of the National Youth Service Corps, at their residence in the Guzape area of Abuja.

According to sources within the Electrical Dealers Association of Nigeria, the deceased was a prominent electrical dealer and respected member of the union.
A source within the association told Vanguard that Godwin owned properties in Lekki, Lagos, as well as Guzape and Maitama in Abuja, and frequently travelled between the two cities for business purposes. The source alleged that the incident occurred after the businessmanâs son returned home from a club and became involved in a heated argument with his father.
âWe received news that one of our members, one of the big boys in the market, was involved in a tragic incident. He is an importer, a major dealer, and also involved in real estate,â the source said. According to the source, the son had reportedly accused his father of being unfair financially and compared him to other wealthy parents who allegedly provided luxury cars for their children.
The disagreement reportedly escalated after an argument over the alleged mismanagement of business funds. âFollowing the confrontation and an argument over mismanagement of business funds, the son allegedly stabbed his father three times in different parts of the body,â the source claimed.
The source further alleged that the son is currently in police custody in Abuja and that the deceasedâs wife had also been invited for questioning. The association said its members immediately moved to secure Godwinâs shops and warehouses to prevent theft or looting following the tragedy.

âAs a union, our immediate action was to secure all his shops and warehouses to prevent anyone, including apprentices, from carting away goods. That is our normal procedure whenever such a tragedy happens to one of our members,â the source added.
Confirming the incident, Federal Capital Territory Police Command spokesperson Josephine Adeh said the case came to light after concerned individuals reported being unable to contact or gain access to the deceased.
âThe FCT Police Command is investigating the death of Mr. Adimike Godwin of Guzape, which was discovered following a distress call,â Adeh said. âOn arrival, the police found the injured victim in a pool of his own blood. He was confirmed dead by doctors on duty at Karu General Hospital.â
According to the police spokesperson, five suspects, including a relative of the deceased, have been taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi. âMembers of the public are urged to remain calm and report any relevant information to the command,â she added.
