Oluyede woos Ekiti voters with development, welfare promises
The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, on Wednesday intensified grassroots mobilisation for votes ahead of the June 20, 2026, election in the state.
Oluyede, addressing a crowd of party supporters in Emure Ekiti, Emure Local Government Area, promised to deliver responsible and inclusive governance that would directly improve the living conditions of Ekiti residents.
Thirteen political parties are participating in the governorship election billed for June 20 across the 26 local government areas of the state.
At another rally in Ise Ekiti in Ise/Orun Local Government Area, Oluyede told the crowd of party supporters, youths, women groups, artisans, market leaders and community stakeholders that he would create opportunities for youths.
He said, “Our administration will tackle unemployment through youth empowerment initiatives, entrepreneurship programmes, and vocational training designed to create sustainable opportunities for young people across the state”.
He also promised to rehabilitate roads, improve rural infrastructure, strengthen education and healthcare systems and provide better support for farmers, traders, and small-scale business owners.
Speaking on the economic challenges facing residents, he pledged to address the issue of multiple taxation allegedly imposed on traders and artisans, stressing that his administration would create a more business-friendly environment capable of encouraging economic growth and investment.
He said transparency, accountability and people-focused governance would remain central to his administration if elected.
“The journey towards rebuilding Ekiti has started. The massive support witnessed today is a clear indication that the people are ready for a government that will prioritise their welfare and development,” he said.
The PDP candidate urged residents to remain steadfast and continue to support the PDP as the party moves across the state to engage more communities ahead of the election.
Oluyede was accompanied by his running mate, Ayodeji Ogunsakin, the Director-General of the Oluyede Campaign Council, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, party chieftains and other supporters.
He thanked residents for what he described as a strong demonstration of confidence in his aspiration to lead the state.
