Owo/Ose APC Primary: Aspirant rejects result, alleges no voting took place
—Demands fresh primary
By Dayo Johnson Akure
An All Progressive Congress aspirant, Ajibola Adetula Oludasa has rejected the outcome of the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency primary, alleging that no voting took place in any ward and that results were fabricated.
In a letter to the APC National Chairman, Oludasa said party members were mobilized and ready to vote, but instead of allowing voting, the committee announced concocted results in public.
Oludasa said that “There were irregularities in the conduct of the primaries. Voting materials were not seen in the constituency during the purported conduct of the primary election.
“I don’t know how the committee came to the result declared in my constituency.
“It is surprising that results were announced in political wards where elections were not conducted.
“This casts doubt in the minds of the people on the legitimacy of the results declared.”
Oludasa warned that allowing the result to stand could harm President Bola Tinubu’s reelection chances, saying party members were already disenchanted.
“These actions undermine internal democracy, violate the principles of fairness and transparency, and disenfranchise bona fide party members.
Accepting such a result would damage the credibility of the party and weaken our chances in the general election,” he said.
He called for the nullification of the result and the conduct of a fresh, free, fair, and transparent primary in line with party guidelines and the Electoral Act 2022.
The aspirant also blamed the state party leadership under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the conduct of the exercise.
He cautioned that the APC risked repeating the mistakes of the PDP, which lost power after controlling 30 states and believing it was unbeatable.
“If the leadership does not allow democracy to thrive in the country, the people may be forced to join the coalition against the APC,” he said.
