Oyo: Constituents demand review of Irepo Primary election outcome

Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Old Irepo Federal Constituency of Oyo State have called for a review of the recently concluded House of Representatives primary election.

In a statement issued after the primary, the group expressed concerns over the process and outcome, saying it has generated mixed reactions among party members in Irepo, Oorelope, and Olorunsogo Local Government Areas.

The statement noted that some stakeholders withdrew from the exercise, claiming the process did not fully reflect the preferences of delegates.

“There is a general sentiment among some members that the outcome does not align with their expectations,” the statement read. “This development has affected morale within sections of the party.”

The group highlighted the popularity of Hon. Badmos Bashir Adeola among certain party members, citing his grassroots mobilisation and active involvement in party activities before the primary.

While reaffirming their loyalty to the APC, the members urged the party leadership at both state and national levels to address the concerns raised in order to promote inclusiveness and transparency.

They appealed for urgent steps to restore unity and confidence among members ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Our appeal is for the party to take necessary steps to strengthen confidence among members,” the statement added. “Ensuring a process that is widely accepted will help position the APC for success in Old Irepo Federal Constituency.”
