Sallah: Umahi orders opening of Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road
The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has ordered the immediate reopening of all completed sections of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road to ensure smoother and safer travel for commuters during the Eid al-Adha (Sallah) celebrations.
The directive was issued to the contractor handling the project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to ease traffic congestion on the highly critical northern commercial corridor.
This was contained in a statement issued yesterday and signed by his Media Aide, Francis Nwaze, in Abuja.
Umahi noted that an earlier accident on the road had been fully cleared, adding that security agencies had been deployed to strategic points along the route to maintain law and order.
He assured road users of improved safety throughout the Sallah holidays.
Sections of the road had been closed to traffic to allow contractors handling ongoing re-construction complete the project.
