Saudi Arabia warns Hajj pilgrims of extreme temperatures, up to 47°C
Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology has warned that temperatures during the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage could rise to 47 degrees Celsius.
The agency advised pilgrims to prepare for extremely hot weather and take steps to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses, particularly during outdoor religious activities in Makkah and other nearby holy sites.
The advisory instructed pilgrims to carry umbrellas while moving around and to drink water regularly to remain hydrated.
Saudi authorities also urged pilgrims to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day.
The advisory also asked “worshippers to obey all health and safety guidelines issued during the pilgrimage.”
The Saudi emergency medical number, 997, was also shared for anyone requiring urgent medical assistance.
The warning comes as millions of pilgrims from different countries continue arriving in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
