Suswam, Benue SSG’s spouse, others win APC senatorial primary

Former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has won the Benue North East senatorial primary election as he defeated the incumbent, Senator Emmanuel Udende, and others to clinch the All Progressive Congress ticket.

The Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee in Benue State, Sabiu Mahuta, announced the final results on Tuesday at the party secretariat in Makurdi, the state capital.

Suswam, according to the results announced polled 131,083 votes to defeat the serving senator, Emmanuel Udende who got 1,364.

Also, a former member of the Federal House of Representative representing  the Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu federal constituency, Francis Otta Agbo also won the senatorial primary election of the Benue South senatorial district.

Agbo scored 58,760 votes to defeat the other aspirants. Among them were; Daniel Onjeh 5570, Patrick Idoko who scored 2732, Gabriel Oloche polled 5,246; Nelson Alapa 4312 and Joseph Ojobo  6782 votes.

In the same vein, Aber Terseer, the spouse of the Secretary to the State Government in the state, Deborah Aber, was declared winner of the Benue North West senatorial district of the state.

Aber, a retired custom officer defeated the incumbent senator, Titus Zam and other aspirants to clinch the party senatorial ticket.

According to the result announced, Aber polled 93,412 while the serving senator Titus Zam scored 2,763 votes.

Following the results announced, it shows that the supporters of the state governor, Hyacinth Alia, again floored the camp of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

Six serving members of the House of Representative loyal to the SGF  last Saturday lost their return ticket to the loyalists of the state governor Hyacinth Alia.
