We’ll block attempt to rig 2027 elections — Bala Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has declared that his political platform, the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, will ensure that it blocks any attempt to manipulate and rig the 2027 general elections in the state.
Speaking over the weekend at Government House, Bauchi, during his formal declaration for Bauchi South Senatorial seat under the APM, the governor said that his movement (Kaurasiyya) would not engage in electoral malpractice neither will it allow any individual, group or agency to do the same, promising all the political parties a level playing field before and during the electioneering campaigns.
Mr Mohammed, who said he moved to APM after what he described as the collapse of internal stability in the PDP, thanked the APM for giving him and his teaming loyalists, supporters and well wishers, a platform to pursue sustainable development, economic growth, and the well-being of Bauchi people.
He said that the PDP’s internal crisis made continued association untenable, and described his group as people-oriented and driven by faith in democratic participation.
Mr Mohammed said, “Our movement is a pro-people movement. We are not opportunists. We are guided solely by the interest of Bauchi State and the well-being of its good people.
“We cannot allow Bauchi State to return to an era where individuals entrusted with enormous resources and opportunities after four years in office had little to show beyond failed policies, endless and vindictive verification exercises, disregard for traditional institutions, and mismanagement of public resources.
“We are not going back to that era. Do we want to return to the days of never-ending verification exercises for our civil servants and unnecessary hardship for our people? Certainly, the answer is no.
He added, “There is no doubt that we have, as a State, made significant achievements but challenges still abound that we need to confront.
“Our rising demographics, negative effects of climate change, infrastructure needs and the economy among others have stared at us in the face and our responses to these issues had defined the future that we seek for the State. We will, as a movement, continue to work on the goals defined in the Plan.”
The governor also linked his administration’s “My Bauchi Project” to the State Perspective Development Plan 2033, drafted with UNDP support.
The plan targets growth across key sectors despite challenges like population pressure, climate issues, and infrastructure gaps.
“We are not going back to endless verification exercises, hardship for civil servants, disregard for traditional institutions, and poor management of public resources,” he said.
The governor then presented Dr. Yakubu Adamu as APM’s governorship candidate, saying that he is capable of sustaining progress.
He declared, “At this juncture, it is my pleasure to proudly present to you our Governorship Candidate, Dr. Yakubu Adamu , a leader with the experience, competence, and vision to continue from where we shall stop.
“I equally urge you to support credible candidates for the State House of Assembly who will provide the legislative backing necessary for the continued development of our State.
“Similarly, having served previously in the National Assembly, my deputy and myself understand the enormous opportunities available at the federal level for states represented by capable and effective legislators.
“We therefore urge the people of Bauchi State to elect competent and committed Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members who will effectively represent our interests in Abuja,” he added.
