2027: APP unveils Lagos governorship, senatorial, assembly candidates

The Action Peoples Party (APP) on Sunday unveiled its candidates for the Lagos State governorship, Senate, and House of Assembly elections in 2027.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the candidates emerged via consensus during the party’s primary elections.
The primaries were conducted in some parts of the state
Speaking after the exercise, the Chairman of the APP Electoral Committee, Nobert Onwumelu, said the candidates emerged through consensus in line with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
Onwumelu said the Electoral Act provided for either direct primaries or consensus arrangement for the emergence of candidates, adding that the party adopted the latter.
He said Abiola Adeyemi emerged as the party’s governorship candidate while Rev. Adewale Ajayi was affirmed as the party’s candidate for the Lagos West Senatorial District election.
Onwumelu said the party also produced candidates for some State House of Assembly constituencies.
Listing the candidates, he said Samson Okobi emerged candidate for Ojo Constituency I, while Gbenga Adegbesan emerged as the party’s candidate for Alimosho Constituency II.
According to him, Gbenga Ajibola secured the party’s ticket for Mushin Constituency I, while Funmilayo Ajayi emerged as the party’s candidate for Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I.
The electoral committee chairman commended party delegates for the peaceful conduct of the primaries and their commitment to the democratic process.
He urged party members to remain focused and united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, cohesion within the party will strengthen its chances at the polls and enhance its ability to deliver its message to voters.
Onwumelu expressed confidence in the candidates’ ability to advance the party’s programmes and provide effective representation if elected.
He called on members and supporters to continue strengthening the party at all levels and mobilise support for the party’s candidates ahead of 2027.
The chairman reiterated the party’s commitment to providing purposeful leadership, describing it as an alternative platform for good governance in Nigeria.
