2027: Kano NDC governorship candidate picks Kwankwaso’s son as running mate

A former deputy governor of Kano State and governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, for the 2027 election, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has unveiled Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.
Mr Kwankwaso, a former Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, is the son of former Kano State Governor and national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The announcement was made by the spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habibu Saleh Mailemo, in a brief statement circulated on Monday.
The nominee previously served as Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Kano State, where he oversaw youth empowerment initiatives and sports development programmes.
Mr Gwarzo is regarded as a seasoned politician with extensive experience in public administration and governance.
