2027: North will reciprocate Tinubu’s gestures with massive votes — Matawalle

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has expressed confidence that Northern voters will overwhelmingly support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 in appreciation of his administration’s development efforts across the region.

Mr Matawalle said the North has benefited significantly from key infrastructure projects and other development initiatives undertaken by the Tinubu administration since it assumed office.

He also noted that many sons and daughters of the region have been appointed to strategic positions in government, where they are contributing to efforts aimed at ensuring that all parts of the North enjoy the dividends of democracy.

The minister made the remarks while addressing supporters and party stakeholders who paid him Sallah homage visits at his residences in Maradun and Gusau Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

According to him, the North-West in particular, and the North in general, has no better candidate for the 2027 presidential election than President Bola Tinubu.

“For us in the North, our votes for the APC and President Tinubu will clearly demonstrate our appreciation for what he is doing for the region,” Mr Matawalle said.

He cited ongoing infrastructure projects such as the dualisation of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Sokoto highway and the Badagry–Ilela Expressway as evidence of the administration’s commitment to the region’s development.

“If you look at the dualisation of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Sokoto road and the Badagry–Ilela Expressway, you will agree with me that the North is witnessing major projects it never had in the past, even when a Northerner was president,” he said.

Mr Matawalle urged Northerners not to be swayed by politicians he described as self-serving and unconcerned about the country’s progress.

“I wish to appeal to our people in the North not to be deceived by selfish politicians who do not mean well for Nigeria,” he said.

“Most of the politicians criticising the APC and the Tinubu-led administration are pursuing personal interests rather than the collective good of Nigerians.”

The minister maintained that the federal government has demonstrated a strong commitment to the development of the North and expressed optimism that the region would reward the President with overwhelming support at the polls.

“I am confident that the North will shock the world with the number of votes that will come from the region for the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he added.
