Accord faction names Imumolen presidential candidate for 2027 election

A faction of the Accord party has announced Professor Christopher Imumolen as its consensus presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election, just days after the party concluded its primaries.
The announcement was made in a statement by Mukthar Abdullah, the faction’s national secretary who said Imumolen emerged through a consensus arrangement backed by delegates across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the faction, the decision reflects broad support within the party, particularly from younger members who view Imumolen as a symbol of modern leadership.
Abdullah said the nomination process was conducted at a national presidential primary held in Lagos, with delegates in attendance from across the country.
He described Imumolen, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, as a seasoned entrepreneur and philanthropist with the capacity to address Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.
The faction also said the party remains committed to internal democracy and would soon present a detailed policy roadmap aimed at addressing insecurity, unemployment and economic hardship.
In his acceptance speech, Imumolen expressed appreciation to delegates and pledged to run an inclusive campaign focused on national development.
He added that the party’s nomination would be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for official recognition.
