Agege LGA inaugurates construction of eight roads

The Chairman of Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, on Wednesday inaugurated the construction of eight roads, describing infrastructure as a priority of his administration.
The flag-off ceremony was held at the Agege LGA Secretariat, Agege, where the chairman unveiled the eight critical road projects.
Obasa assured residents of timely completion and adherence to quality standards, listing the roads as Talabi, Afolabi Lawal, Ottun, and Adegbite in Ward A.
Others are Omodeinde, Tijani, Abeje, and Yekini Olugoke in Ward D.
The chairman said the projects would ease traffic and improve access to schools, health centres and markets.
He added that the roads would enhance connectivity across communities in Agege.
Obasa said: “When roads are accessible to vehicles, businesses thrive, emergency services respond more quickly and residents spend less time commuting.
“Infrastructure is governance in action.
“It reflects accountability, planning and transparency.
“These roads demonstrate our commitment to good governance.”
The chairman assured residents that contractors would deliver quality work.
Obasa said the projects would be closely monitored to ensure compliance with specifications and timelines.
According to him, the initiative will attract investment, reduce vehicle damage, and open up neighbourhoods to economic opportunities.
Aishat Ogunmade, a resident, expressed joy over the development.
Ogunmade said: “We have waited long enough.
“Thank God we are now remembered.
“Access to schools and health centres will improve.
“We appreciate the chairman’s effort and look forward to timely completion.”
The Councillor representing Ward D, Johnson Jegbe, urged residents to continue supporting government programmes.
Jegbe also stressed the importance of environmental cleanliness, urging residents to avoid activities that obstruct roads and public spaces.
Deji Ajayi, a resident, expressed optimism about the projects.
Ajayi described them as a significant step toward improving transportation, environmental sustainability and socio-economic development in Agege Local Government Area.
