Boy rescued by Soludo’s wife prepares for university education

Master Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka, a teenager who was rescued from severe domestic abuse by his uncle and his wife in 2022 through the intervention of Anambra State First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo, is set to begin his university education after undergoing full rehabilitation.

Since his rescue, Chimkamnayo has remained under Mrs Soludo’s care, receiving medical treatment, educational support, guidance, and the opportunity to rebuild his life.

Mrs Soludo, who disclosed that Chimkamnayo is preparing to enter the university, described his story as one of triumph rather than mere survival.

According to her, Chimkamnayo’s journey should serve as a reminder that difficult circumstances do not determine a child’s future.

“Four years ago, precisely in July 2022, Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka’s story broke the hearts of many Anambra people.

“Rescued from a life of severe abuse and neglect by his uncle and wife, he arrived with wounds that went far beyond the physical,” she said.

“At the time, many saw a hurting child. Today, we see a resilient young man standing on the threshold of a brighter future.

“What once seemed like a story defined by pain has become a powerful testimony of healing, hope, and transformation.

“Today, he is preparing to enter the university, and I am delighted to reaffirm my commitment to supporting his education to whatever level he chooses to attain.”

Mrs Soludo said the greatest lesson from Chimkamnayo’s experience is that abuse does not have to define a child’s destiny.

“With love, protection, encouragement and the right support system, children can heal from trauma, reclaim their confidence and pursue their dreams. Every child deserves that chance,” she added.

She also revealed that although Chimkamnayo has expressed a desire to reunite with his parents, his welfare remains the top priority.

Mrs Soludo assured that his wish would be granted, noting the importance of family ties.

She further stated that while he reconnects with his family, he will continue to be closely monitored and remain under the care, protection and support of the Anambra State Government.

“His journey reminds us that when society refuses to give up on a child, that child can rise above adversity and become a symbol of hope for others,” she said.
