Suspected Boko Haram collaborator arrested in Borno as troops launch manhunt for accomplices

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected Boko Haram informant and collaborator in Izge community of Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the arrest followed intelligence obtained during the interrogation of an earlier suspect, Abubakar Usman, also known as Buba, who was arrested on June 13, 2026 over alleged links with the terrorist group.
According to the sources, the suspect disclosed during preliminary investigations that one Modu Auta, 24, was also collaborating with the terrorists and had relocated to Izge community.
Acting on the information, troops of the 114 Battalion deployed in Izge arrested Modu Auta on June 15.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted to residing in Denbe, near Sabil Huda in the Sambisa Forest, an area historically associated with terrorist activities.
Security sources further disclosed that the suspect provided the names of other individuals allegedly involved in the network, identified as Amodu Haruna, Ibrahim Idris, Tanko and Ibu.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the 26 Task Force Brigade for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the other named suspects.
Military authorities said the operation forms part of sustained intelligence-led efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks and deny insurgents access to local informants and logistics channels.
