Nigerian music star Davido, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface, and socialite Cubana Chief Priest sparked a lively debate about the financial future of football icon Cristiano Ronaldo during a gathering at Cubana Chief Priest’s mansion.
The banter centred on whether Ronaldo, widely regarded as the world’s highest-paid athlete, could ever go broke. Davido expressed scepticism about the Portuguese star’s reported $5 billion fortune, warning that even the wealthiest individuals could lose everything without sound financial planning.
Boniface disagreed, arguing that Ronaldo’s extensive business empire spanning his CR7 clothing brand, hotel chains, and major endorsement deals made it virtually impossible for him to exhaust his wealth even at a spending rate of $1 million a day.
Osimhen brought a sobering dimension to the conversation by invoking the cautionary tale of former Nigerian international Wilson Oruma, whose well-documented financial ruin following a string of poor investments served as a reminder that footballing success offers no guarantee of lasting wealth without careful planning.
Cubana Chief Priest, for his part, downplayed Ronaldo’s side businesses, dismissing them as mere extras rather than the foundation of any serious financial security.
Ronaldo’s actual net worth is estimated at $1.2 billion, underpinned by annual earnings of approximately $300 million from his Al-Nassr salary and a long-standing Nike partnership, among other income streams figures that cement his status as the world’s top-earning athlete.
