The Chief Judge of Edo State, Hon. Justice Daniel Iyobosa Okungbowa, has pledged the support of the state judiciary for The Nigerian Observer, saying government-owned institutions should patronise and strengthen what belongs to them.
Justice Okungbowa gave the assurance when the management of Bendel Newspapers Corporation, BNC, led by its General Manager, Hon. Peter Odiboh, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Welcoming the team, the Chief Judge said it was only proper for government establishments in the state to support The Nigerian Observer, being a media organisation owned by the Edo State Government.
According to him, the judiciary would endeavour to use the corporation for official publications, including probate notices, land use matters, change of name and other publication needs.
He also indicated the judiciary’s readiness to extend its patronage to the corporation in the area of printing services.
Earlier, the General Manager of Bendel Newspapers Corporation, Hon. Peter Odiboh, said the purpose of the visit was to inform the Chief Judge that The Nigerian Observer had returned to the newsstand and to explore areas of partnership with the judiciary.
Odiboh noted that, in addition to publishing news and reports, the corporation has well-equipped printing machines for the production of books, diaries, flex and other materials.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of copies of The Nigerian Observer to the Chief Judge by the General Manager.
