Ex-Kano PDP deputy gov candidate defects to APC

The former Kano deputy governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party during the 2023 general elections, Yusuf Dambatta, has defected to the All Progressives Congress.
Dambatta, who announced his exit from the PDP in a statement released on Sunday, said his decision to join the APC was taken after careful consideration and wide consultations with his leaders, political associates, supporters, and stakeholders.
“I hereby formally announce my decision to join the All Progressives Congress. This decision was taken after careful consideration and wide consultations with my leaders, political associates, supporters, and stakeholders,” the statement partly read.
He expressed optimism that the APC will provide a more suitable platform for him to contribute effectively to the advancement of the Kano people and the development of the state and the country at large.
“I am equally motivated by the growing spirit of inclusiveness within the APC, the party’s commitment to the welfare of the people, and the opportunity to contribute more effectively to the advancement of our state and nation.
“I am deeply inspired by the visionary leadership of Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the transformative Kano First Agenda, which has demonstrated a clear commitment to good governance, human capital development, infrastructure renewal, and the overall progress of Kano State,” Dambatta’s statement added.
He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the service of the people, the promotion of unity, and the pursuit of policies and programmes that will enhance peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
He, however, extended his appreciation to members and leaders of the PDP for the relationships and experiences shared over the years, adding, “I look forward to working with members of the APC and all well-meaning citizens in support of the Kano First Agenda and the continued development of our dear state.”
