EXCLUSIVE: Rogue Police Officers Allegedly Shielding Ex-IGP Egbetokun’s Ally, Rebecca Bilikisu Teargas EFCC Operatives During Enforcement Of Forfeiture Order In Abuja

A violent, two-hour armed standoff erupted on Monday in the high-brow Guzape area of Abuja as two busloads of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives moved to enforce successive Federal High Court interim forfeiture orders against properties allegedly acquired by Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac, also known as Hajia Bilikisu of Abuja, a close ally of former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and a criminal trial suspect. 

The operation, which commenced around 1pm on Monday June 28, 2026 at the disputed multi-billion-naira property located at Plot 4022, O.B. Lulu-Briggs Street, Guzape, descended into chaos when plainclothes individuals guarding the property allegedly violently resisted the EFCC operatives who arrived to execute the court order.

The plainclothes policemen, who were allegedly on unauthorised assignment, physically confronted the EFCC team despite being shown valid court documents authorising the forfeiture of the property.

According to a source who spoke to SaharaReporters, Rebecca was inside the mansion during the operation and allegedly directed the resistance from within, working with some police personnel.

Upon arrival at the premises, the EFCC operatives reportedly presented the court order to the men at the gate and requested access to the property, but the guards allegedly refused to open the gate, leading to a tense standoff.

A video footage captured by bystanders and obtained by SaharaReporters reportedly showed EFCC operatives presenting the Federal High Court order to the security personnel and requesting entry, but their request was allegedly denied.

The situation later deteriorated as those inside the property allegedly sprayed unknown substances through the gates at the EFCC team and fired tear gas canisters into the street, resulting in a confrontation.

Despite the resistance, the EFCC tactical team reportedly proceeded to breach the security barriers and gained access to the premises through the gates.

Upon entering the compound, the tactical team reportedly disarmed and arrested the individuals guarding the property. The men identified themselves as officers of the Nigeria Police Force but were allegedly unable to provide formal deployment documents or justify their presence at a court-ordered enforcement scene. They were subsequently taken into EFCC custody for further questioning.

It would be recalled that the immediate past Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, was previously accused of shielding Rebecca from arrest by allegedly providing police personnel to guard her during an earlier attempt by the EFCC to enforce the forfeiture order.

Despite Egbetokun’s removal from office, some police officers are still providing protection for her by disguising themselves as private guards without formal deployment or authorisation.

The alleged action has raised concerns over compliance with the directive of President Bola Tinubu and the current Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, regarding the withdrawal of police personnel from private individuals and VIPs.

SaharaReporters had earlier June 16, 2026 reported that human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, petitioned the Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, seeking enforcement of an interim forfeiture order on the Guzape property. 

Falana, who represents Mrs. Colleen Mero Yesufu, an octogenarian widow and nominal complainant in an ongoing criminal matter before the Federal High Court in Abuja, expressed concerns over the continued occupation and use of the property despite the existence of a subsisting court order.

In a petition addressed to the EFCC Chairman, jointly signed by two lawyers from Falana & Falana Chambers Taiwo E. Olawanle and Prince Adebayo Adesina Oniyelu the lawyers urged the commission to enforce the forfeiture order and take immediate steps to remove Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac and any unauthorized occupants from the property.

Similarly, human rights lawyer Barrister Maxwell Opara, alongside advocacy groups including the Initiative Against Human Rights Abuse and Torture (INAHURAT) and the Centre for Human Rights and Inter-Ethnic Development (CHRISED), had repeatedly called for the enforcement of three consecutive interim forfeiture orders issued by Justice Egwuatu in December 2024, followed by Justice Emeka Nwite in 2025, and reinforced by Justice Joyce Obehi AbdulMalik in 2026.

Rebecca was standing trial on allegations bordering on the forgery of title documents, Certificate of Occupancy, Power of Attorney, among others, relating to the Guzape property, before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. It was alleged that she fraudulently connived with some top officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service to secure a second international passport after the court had ordered the seizure of her passport as part of her bail conditions.
