The founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has declared that he will not return to his matrimonial home despite an emotional appeal from one of his sons.
Speaking to his congregation, Bishop Obinim revealed that a few days after moving out of the family home, he received a voice note from his son, Gifted, who complained about the behaviour of his brother, Promise.
According to Obinim, Gifted alleged that Promise took a G-Wagon vehicle that had been left for the family’s use and later crashed it after driving it out at night.
The preacher played the voice note during a church service, allowing members of the congregation to hear the message.
“Daddy, please, I’m your son. You told me not to tell you anything about Promise but, look, I was asleep and Promise went to take the car and went out in the night and crashed it. Daddy, please do something about it because I can’t do anything. Please come back home; you need to control Promise, please,” Gifted said in the recording.
After playing the voice note, Bishop Obinim asked church members whether they believed he should return home to his family.
While some encouraged reconciliation, one church member expressed concerns about his safety and suggested that returning home could expose him to danger.
Obinim, however, firmly rejected calls to return, insisting that his decision was final.
“They already said I’ve left home, and I confirm it’s true. I have left. I wouldn’t go back, and not even my parents, whom I respect deeply, can ask me to return and expect me to obey. My life matters to me,” he said.
The comments come amid a widely discussed marital dispute between Bishop Obinim and his wife, gospel singer Florence Obinim.
The controversy began after the preacher publicly claimed that his wife had changed due to the influence of certain people around her.
He later announced that he had moved out of the family home and relocated to a mansion in Trasacco while dealing with the challenges in the marriage.
Florence Obinim subsequently responded by stating that if her husband wished to end the marriage, he was free to do so.
Despite his son’s emotional appeal, Bishop Obinim has made it clear that he has no plans to return to the family residence.
“The G-Wagon I gave them was driven and crashed by my son, Promise. Now, my other son, Gifted, wants me to come home and restore order because their mother is reluctant, but I can’t because my safety comes first.”
