Islamic year: Makinde declares Tuesday work-free day

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared Tuesday, a work-free day across the state in commemoration of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448AH.
This is contained in statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Musibau Babatunde, on Monday.
The governor equally felicitated with the Muslim Ummah in Oyo State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the new Islamic calendar year.
Makinde called on Muslims to use the occasion to offer prayers for the continued peace, unity and prosperity of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
He also urged all residents of the state to remain vigilant and security-conscious before, during and after the Hijrah celebrations.
The governor charged them to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the relevant security agencies and through the state’s emergency number, 615.
