No development thrive in an atmosphere of fear, insecurity, says Clergy

Apostle Sule Azekhumen of the Edo Government House Chapel, has on Monday in Benin, said that no meaningful development can thrive in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
Azekhumen stated this while delivery his sermon at the 2026 Mid-year Thanksgiving and Praise, held on Monday in Edo Government House Chapel.
According to him, we are particularly encouraged by the governor’s unwavering determination and unrelenting fight against kidnapping, banditry, cultism and all forms of criminality.
He noted that Okpebholo’s administration has demonstrated courage and commitment in strengthening security and protecting lives and property across the state.
“As a people of faith, we understand that while our leaders work diligently, ultimate success comes from God, except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman waketh in vain.
“It was this conviction that inspired the government house chapel to embarked on a 14 days of prayer and fasting from June 1 to June 14, culminating on Sunday, seeking God’s guidance, protection, wisdom, peace and prosperity for Edo.
“We believe that God who answers prayer will continue to strengthen our leaders and establish the work of their hands”, he said.
The clergy, appealed to Church of Christ and other religions bodies throughout the state to continually pray for President Bola Tinubu, Gov. Monday Okpebholo and his deputy and other members of the state executive council.
Speaking on the significant of thanksgiving, Azekhumen, cited Psalm 100:4, adding that we have every reason to thank God, who has preserved our lives, sustained our families, protect our communities.
He commended the governor for the employment of 5,000 teachers, which he described as bold investment in the future of our children and the strengthening of our educational system.
On his part, Okpebholo, reaffirmed his administration commitment in improving security and protecting lives and property across the 18 Local Government Area of the state.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner of Finance, Mr Emmanuel Okoebor, highlighted various sector’s his administration has invested on, adding that he is doing everything humanily possible to make live meaningful for Edo people.
The governor, however explained that his administration would continue to give thanks to God, nothing that there is reward in showing appreciation to God at every given time.
