Mr Ibu’s Family Faces Hardship Months After Actor’s Death

Content creator King Mitchy has paid a visit to the family of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, who passed away in March 2024 at the age of 62 following a prolonged illness and leg amputation.

The visit revealed that the family has been living in difficult conditions, with members disclosing that they had been without electricity for months, were fetching water from a neighbourhood well, had accumulated unpaid rent, and were unable to send the children to school due to outstanding fees.

The video sparked an outpouring of sympathy online, with fans calling on the Actors Guild of Nigeria to intervene and provide support.

It also reignited questions about the whereabouts of funds donated to the family during the actor’s illness, as well as the level of support being extended by his other relatives and children.
