Ogun: Police beef up security on Sagamu-Benin Expressway

The Ogun State Police Command has deployed its maximum operational strength and tactical assets along the Sagamu–Benin Expressway to counter criminal activities, specifically targeting kidnapping and armed robbery.
This followed recent concerns over security in the area, including reports about an incident that occurred on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Ogun Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday.
“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to reassure members of the public following reports of a security incident around the J3 area of the Sagamu–Benin Expressway on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
“Upon receiving a distress report, police operatives responded immediately and swiftly activated a coordinated security operation,” the statement read.
Babaseyi disclosed that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has directed the deployment of four (4) units of Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and other tactical teams to the area.
“An intensive bush-combing exercise is ongoing, with the deployed operatives making significant operational progress in tracking the fleeing suspects, dominating the area, and ensuring the safety of commuters and inhabitants of the corridor. “The Command wishes to state that there is no cause for alarm.
All necessary security measures have been put in place to ensure public safety,” the statement added.
