Ondo Man Arrested After Allegedly Beating Father to Death in Akure

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man identified as Nsikak Kingsley for allegedly beating his own father, Adone Peter, to death at Oda Community in Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, on Thursday.

According to Jimoh, the tragic incident occurred on May 28, 2026, following a heated argument between the suspect and his 65-year-old father that escalated into a violent physical confrontation.

During the altercation, the deceased sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head, and was immediately rushed to a medical facility for urgent attention. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

The statement noted that the command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Felix Ohagwu, was able to track down and apprehend the suspect after his own brother reported the matter at a nearby police station, prompting operatives to swing into action.

The incident has generated widespread shock and concern among residents of the community.

The case bears a disturbing resemblance to a similar incident that occurred in 2024, when the Lagos State Police Command detained a 25-year-old man, Chibunma Chimelie, who allegedly stabbed his 68-year-old father to death in the Isolo area of the state on a Thursday night at around 10:00 p.m.
