Pay Taxes, Ground Rents to Enjoy More Development, Tinubu Tells Abuja Residents

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on residents and business owners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to promptly pay their taxes, land charges and ground rents, saying compliance with civic obligations is essential for sustained infrastructure development across the territory.

The President made the appeal during the commissioning of Arterial Road N5, which stretches from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III in Dape District, Abuja.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said the Federal Capital Territory Administration requires adequate revenue to continue delivering critical infrastructure and improving public services.

“To the residents and business owners enjoying this transformation, I urge you to meet your obligations. Pay your taxes. Clear your land fees and ground rents.

Your compliance gives the FCT Administration the strength to build more roads like this one,” the President said.

Tinubu noted that the newly completed road project was conceived, funded and executed under the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration, describing it as evidence of the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.

According to him, the project was awarded to Julius Berger Plc in October 2024 with a strict completion timeline of 15 months, which was successfully achieved.

The President said the completion of the road demonstrates the administration’s determination to end the era of abandoned projects and ensure that public investments translate into tangible benefits for citizens.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to seeing projects through from conception to completion, stressing that infrastructure remains a key pillar of the administration’s development agenda.

The Arterial Road N5 is expected to improve connectivity within the rapidly developing districts of the FCT, ease traffic congestion and support economic activities in the affected communities.
