Popular Islamic scholar hacked to death in Kwara

Unidentified attackers have killed a well-known Islamic scholar identified as Alfa Iliasu in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.
According to security sources, the incident happened at about 1:10 am on May 30 in Ilesha-Baruba, where the attackers reportedly entered the scholar’s home.
As of now, the reason for the attack is still unknown.
After the incident, local vigilantes and residents reportedly chased the attackers as they tried to escape.
It is understood that two of the suspects were stopped during the chase.
Troops from the 244 Battalion, along with police and vigilante groups, were later sent to the area and increased patrols throughout the community.
Security sources said the deployment was meant to maintain order and prevent potential revenge attacks.
Security agencies have started investigating the killing, and efforts are ongoing to find other suspects connected to the attack.
Residents are being asked to remain calm and share any useful information to support ongoing security efforts in the area. the area.
