Tinubu appoints Namdas BCDA DG, names Obahiagbon, Umeoji NDPHC executive directors

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of former House of Representatives spokesman, Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas, as the new Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency, BCDA.

The President also appointed former lawmaker, Patrick Obahiagbon, as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, while reappointing Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services of the power company.

The appointments, announced in a statement on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.

According to the statement, Namdas succeeds Dr Dakorinama Alabo George, who resigned from the BCDA to contest for an elective position in his home state.

Namdas, a former member of the House of Representatives, represented Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, where he served as spokesman of the 8th House of Representatives.

He was also an aspirant in the recently concluded governorship primary election in Adamawa State.

Beyond his legislative career, the new BCDA Director-General has a background in journalism and public relations. He previously served as Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna.

In a separate appointment, President Tinubu named Patrick Obahiagbon as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.

Obahiagbon replaces Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who resigned from the position to pursue his political ambition in his home state.

A lawyer and politician, Obahiagbon has served in both the Edo State House of Assembly and the National Assembly, where he became widely known for his eloquent and often philosophical style of public speaking.

The President also reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services of the NDPHC.

Umeoji, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the 9th National Assembly, had earlier resigned from the position to pursue his political ambition in his home state.

According to the Presidency, his reappointment restores him to the executive management of the power company.

The Presidency said all the appointments take effect immediately.
