Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued five children who fled Boko Haram enclaves across Borno State, following intensified military operations that forced insurgents to abandon their positions.
Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed online that the rescues took place on June 4 during ongoing combat and clearance patrols in the North-East theatre.
In the first incident, troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion recovered two girls Aisha Idrisa, 13, and Fatima Abubakar, 11 near the Amuda area of Gwoza Local Government Area.
The girls, both from Pulka community, had been abducted by terrorists in 2025 and were held in a Boko Haram enclave in the Sahalawa area.
They managed to escape after sustained military bombardments and ground operations forced the insurgents to flee. Initial debriefing confirmed that the military pressure had created the opportunity for their escape.
The two girls were subsequently screened, documented, and reunited with their families at the Pulka Internally Displaced Persons Camp.
Separately, three other girls Wuriya Kaka, 12, Fauza Abu, 13, and Hussaina Usman, 13 surrendered to troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza after escaping from Guduf Nagadayo in the Mandara Mountains.
The three are currently undergoing screening and profiling in line with standard military protocols.
