2027: PRP presidential aspirant kicks against politics of division, pushes for issue-driven campaigns

The Presidential Aspirant of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in the 2027 general elections, Engr. (Dr.) Yakubu Mohammed Kingsley (YMK)), on Wednesday kicked against the politics of division as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Kingsley, in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja, called on politicians to engage in issue-driven campaigns at all levels of electioneering activities.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 General Elections, thereby signalling the commencement of another important democratic journey in our nation’s history.

“As political parties prepare to nominate candidates and campaign activities gradually gather momentum across the country, I, Engr. (Dr.) Yakubu Mohammed Kingsley Nigeria, (a.k.a. YMK), Presidential Aspirant of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), extend my warm regards to all Nigerians and congratulate every aspirant across political parties for offering themselves to serve our beloved nation.”

According to him, this election season presents Nigeria with a historic opportunity—not merely to change governments, but to redefine our national direction.

“It is therefore imperative that we rise above the politics of division and embrace the politics of ideas, competence, integrity and national development.

“Let the campaigns be about solutions, not insults.

“YMK respectfully calls upon all presidential, gubernatorial, national and state assembly aspirants, irrespective of political affiliation, to conduct campaigns that are peaceful, mature and issue-driven.

“The era of abusive language, character assassination, ethnic profiling, religious manipulation, fake news, hate speech and politics of bitterness must come to an end. Nigeria has suffered enough.

“Our people are not interested in endless exchanges of insults. They are not interested in propaganda. They are not interested in empty promises or political entertainment.

“What Nigerians desire today are practical solutions to the enormous challenges confronting our nation.

“Let every candidate tell Nigerians: What economic policies they intend to implement.

“How they intend to secure lives and property. How they will revive industries. How they plan to stabilise the Naira.

“How they intend to create millions of jobs. How they will provide uninterrupted electricity.

“How they intend to reform education and healthcare. How they will tackle corruption without fear or favour.

“How they will unite our diverse country. The Nigerian electorate deserves nothing less,” he said.

Kingsley, who is currently challenging in court the May 25 primary election of the party that produced former Governor of Cross River’s State, Mr Donald Duke, as PRP’s presidential candidate, said the nation’s present predicament did not emerge overnight.

“The insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, infrastructural decay and institutional weaknesses confronting Nigeria today are cumulative consequences of decades of policy inconsistency, weak governance, corruption, poor planning and failure of leadership across successive administrations.

“Over the years, insecurity evolved from isolated communal conflicts into terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, farmer-herder clashes, oil theft, piracy and violent criminality.

“Thousands of innocent citizens have lost their lives. Businesses have closed. Farmers can no longer safely cultivate their lands. Investors have become increasingly reluctant to commit capital.

“The consequences have been devastating. Similarly, our economy has endured years of structural weaknesses. Inflation has reached unbearable levels. Food prices continue to rise beyond the reach of ordinary families. The purchasing power of workers has diminished.

“Small and medium-scale businesses struggle to survive. Manufacturers grapple with high production costs arising from unstable electricity supply, multiple taxation, foreign exchange volatility and inadequate infrastructure.

“Millions of our young people remain unemployed or underemployed despite possessing enormous talents and potential.

“The cost of transportation, healthcare, education and housing has become overwhelming for the average Nigerian family,” he said.

Kingsley, however, said that sadly, the challenges have become even more severe under the present administration, leaving millions of citizens facing unprecedented economic hardship and uncertainty.
