?He bargained the car from ?15m to ?13.5m and asked for a test drive? ? Car dealer recounts how suspected car thief allegedly stole vehicle before being caught

The Abuja-based car dealer whose vehicle was allegedly stolen has shared his account of what happened before the suspect was eventually arrested.

According to him, the suspect first contacted him online after seeing an advert for the ₦15 million vehicle and later negotiated the price down to ₦13.5 million before scheduling an inspection.

He said they went on a test drive, during which the suspect claimed he was hungry and suggested they stop by the dealer’s house. Believing there was no danger, the dealer agreed.

The dealer alleged that as soon as they got out of the car, two other men suddenly appeared, restrained him, snatched the car keys and drove off with the vehicle.

He said the incident was immediately reported to the police and the car community in Abuja, while the vehicle’s location was also tracked.

According to him, the suspect was eventually found with the car at the University of Abuja after allegedly driving around the campus. He claimed the vehicle has since been recovered, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
