Abducted 300-level UI Law student regains freedom

A 300-level law student of the University of Ibadan, Abolarin Tomisin, who was abducted alongside other individuals, has regained freedom.
The University of Ibadan Students’ Union confirmed her release in a statement issued on Monday by its SUG President, Temidayo Adeboye, and the General Secretary, Joshua Shontan.
According to the statement, the announcement followed official confirmation from relevant authorities and representatives of the concerned organisation.
“The University of Ibadan Students’ Union is pleased to inform the university community that our student, Miss Fumilayo, a 300-level student of the Faculty of Law, who was abducted alongside other individuals, has been safely released,” the statement read.
According to the union, the released individuals are currently undergoing post-release procedures before returning to their respective destinations, while arrangements are being made to ensure the student’s safe return to the university community.
“The released individuals are currently undergoing the necessary post-release procedures and will return to their respective destinations as arrangements are concluded.
“We have been assured that our student will safely return to the university community in due course,” it added.
The Students’ Union expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved in securing the release, including security agencies, the university management, and the leadership of the Scripture Union.
It noted that their collective efforts were instrumental in achieving the outcome, adding that the Union remained grateful for their dedication and support.
The Union also thanked members of the university community for their prayers, patience, solidarity, and unwavering support throughout the period of uncertainty, describing it as deeply encouraging.
It expressed gratitude for the safe release, praying for the complete healing, restoration, and well-being of all those affected by the incident.
