ABSU allegedly suspends Anatomy HOD for allegedly extorting millions from students to pass exams â Educare CEO Alex Onyia

Abia State University (ABSU) has reportedly suspended Dr Agbai Johnson Ukwa, the HOD of Anatomy Department, for allegedly extorting as high as N1.5 million from individual students to pass exams, according to education consultant Alex Onyia.
Back in May 2026, Onyia accused Agbai of extorting money from his students to give them pass marks in their exam.
At the time, Onyia, Educare CEO, wrote on X: ” This is Dr Agbai Johnson Ukwa. He is the HOD of Anatomy Department, Abia State University.
“I heard he extorts his students before grading them or they must fail or get a missing script.
“The government should thouroughly investigate him.
“Lets restore sanity in our universities!”

Onyia returned to X on July 21 to claim that Dr. Agbai has been suspended as ABSU investigates claims against him.
He wrote: “This man was suspended today by Abia State University.
“Investigations so far have revealed that he has been involved in grade sorting and other strange activities. He charges as high as N1.5m to pass MBBS exam.
“The Abia State Government has intensified its investigation and is reviewing results and mark sheets for all students in the Uni for the past 5 years.
“Some graduates’ results may be cancelled after this investigation.
“This is the most thorough academic investigation at any Nigerian university so far.”
