NUC approves 24 new programmes for KWASU

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the full-time take-off of new programmes at the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval was contained in a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and signed by NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.
In a statement by the Director, University Relations, KWASU, Professor Saeedat Aliyu said that 14 of the programmes are at the undergraduate level, while 10 are at the postgraduate level.
The approved undergraduate programmes are B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics, B.Nsc. Nursing Science, B.Ed. Educational Technology, B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling, B.Ed. Health Education, and B.Ed. Entrepreneurship Education.
Others are B.Sc. Insurance and Risk Management, B.Ed. Technology Education, B. Community Health Science, B.Eng. Computer Engineering, B.Eng. Industrial and Production Engineering, and B.Eng. Biomedical Engineering.
The postgraduate programmes include M.A. and Ph.D Fine and Applied Arts, M.A. and Ph.D Performing Arts, M.A. Linguistics, PGD M. Tech, and Ph.D. Food Science and Technology.
Ph.D. Hospitality and Tourism Managment, Ph.D Public Administration, and Ph.D Mass Communication completes the list.
In his reaction to the NUC approval, the Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed excitement and congratulated the university’s staff who worked to ensure the regulatory agency’s resource verification exercise was successful.
He added that the university would continue to sustain the excellence in teaching, research, and community development for which the institution is reputed, producing the excellent human capital resources needed to propel global development.
