Omega Odunze, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the South-East, has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the party’s nominee, will win the 2027 presidential election by a significant majority.
During a conversation with reporters in Enugu, Odunze, Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Community Mobilization in the South-East and the leader of the Atiku Community Mobilization, ACM, made the announcement.
According to Odunze, Atiku’s record and the fact that he is the only strong candidate from Northern Nigeria with a large number of votes give him an advantage over President Bola Tinubu and other presidential hopefuls.
Expressing confidence in Atiku’s chances, Odunze pointed to his administrative capacity and competence, which, according to him, stands the ADC presidential candidate out among the other presidential candidates.
“Having served as the number two citizen of the country for eight unbroken years, there is no doubt that Atiku had garnered enormous leadership experience to take the country to a greater height.
“We are convinced that he will win the election because all the odds favour him. His track records in public office are there for everyone to see.
When he was the Vice President and Chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC) under President Olusegun Obasanjo, the economy of Nigeria boomed.
It was Atiku who allowed foreign investment in Nigeria’s communication industry.
The Paris Club lenders pardoned Nigeria’s debt because of the international community’s faith in Atiku’s economic team, freeing funds that should have been used for debt servicing for development, according to Odunze.
In order to overcome voter apathy and guarantee that citizens turn out in large numbers to support the ADC flagbearer in the upcoming election, he also revealed that Atiku’s mobilization team had started voter registration sensitization in the South-East states.
“We started from Anambra to Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, sensitizing the people on the necessity to secure their Permanent Voters Cards PVC which is the only tool to vote out or vote in candidates of their choice.
We are satisfied with the level of compliance.
The degree of compliance in Enugu is increasing. According to what we learned from the exercise, South-Easterners want a government that will fully incorporate them into the larger scheme of things and promote sustainable development in the region.
“We were assured that voter apathy will not exist in the area as it did in the past.”
According to Odunze, the South-East Hausa community was included in the sensitization effort, which encouraged them to obtain PVCs and cast ballots.
Secretary of the Enugu State chapter of the ADC, Comrade Adolphus Ude, said the state is ready to deliver victory to candidates of the party at all levels.
According to him, ADC has become the darling of all Enugu people, who, according to him, see the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, as insensitive to the plight of the people.
