Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu on Tuesday decorated 30 newly promoted senior officers and charged them to justify their elevation through exemplary leadership, integrity and commitment to public service.

The 30 senior officers, comprising 13 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Commissioners of Police (CPs), were decorated at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The ceremony was attended by family members, serving and retired senior police officers, and top state and Federal Government officials.

While addressing the officers, IGP Disu described their promotion as both an honour and a call to greater responsibility, noting that it was a recognition of years of dedicated and meritorious service to the Force.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the officers throughout their careers, recalling the family celebrations, birthdays and personal milestones many had missed in the line of duty. The police chief also commended their families for their unwavering support and understanding over the years.

He charged the officers to lead with integrity, humility and compassion, stressing that commanders who genuinely prioritised the welfare of their personnel would earn their loyalty and commitment.

He further urged them to strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through professionalism and accountability, while mentoring younger officers to uphold the highest standards of policing.

According to him, “the rank you wear today is not only a symbol of achievement but also a reminder of the enormous responsibility you now carry. Lead in a manner worthy of the trust placed in you and the expectations of the next generation of police officers.”
